If Every Photographer Has A Role Model…..

Elena Shumilova is mine. This Russian mother captures children in a way that is pure magic. From the moment I laid eyes on her work, I knew I had to meet her and learn from her.

The only problem was – I was not the only one who felt this way. Her workshops sell out faster than a baby lamb shakes its tail.

I put myself on a waiting list and moved on with my life….until….

In February, I got THE call. A spot had opened up and did I want it? Um – YES!

My point is this – NEVER stop learning. Find what you love and follow that. Learn as much as you can. If you get paid to do that thing, awesome, but if you don’t – do it anyway. I honestly believe that it is those moments of inspiration that bring joy to our lives and boy was I inspired by Elena.
